How could it have happened? What was I thinking of? To break a heart that loved me- Why did we fall in love? I guess I should have known, dear Our love could never be… I haven’t words to tell you, Just what you mean to me. “I love you”, came so easily- Somehow it seemed so right. As I held you in my arms, girl. That warm, and pleasant night. Not knowing with the dawning- That I would drive away… Your hand would wave a sad good-bye, Your heart would cry, “Please, stay”! I’ve thought of you so often- I know you think of me. While we are tossed about in life- Like ships upon the sea. It seems our lot in life was meet- Then vanish out of sight… Like ships which meet, and quickly pass- Out on the sea at night. |
