His piercing eyes watched me as he walked out the door as he raised his hand to hit me my heart fell to the floor He said it was my fault he never really wanted to hurt me that's when I opened my eyes to look at him and really began to see He promised me the world but all I wanted was his heart the first time that he hurt me I nearly fell apart The bruises,the beatings add up to so much more than just hurt feelings the bloody nose,the black eye I'm sick of pleading with him to tell me why All the words you say to me are just words unless their true but I don't think you understand exactly what these words can do Then came the drinking and all my dreams began to fall sometimes I wonder how I ever stood so tall The things he used to say to me to make me cry the time he let his best friend smack me made me want to wither up and die But I want you to remember with everything you do what goes around comes around and believe me it will come around to you |

Hi...please understand that what I say about the content of this poem is my own personal opinion....if you are in an abusive relationship, I hope you are getting help! Do not stay with this man...I read another poem of yours that seemed to suggest that you would stay with him no matter what. No one, woman, child or man deserves to be treated this way.... Your poetry is raw and full of emotion...that's why being a poet is so great isn't it..we can get it all out ... One small note...you have posted so many poems in the time you've been on, in this forum and others..that it's going to show in the number of replies you get. Our forum moves quickly, we try to read all the poems we can...if you post 4 or 5, only 1 or 2 may be read...there are just so many on here to read...that said, welcome to the family .... |

Thanks!! Please understand this I just write what ever I feel. I am not in a bad relationship at all I just get this urge to write and I have no idea what's going on until it's done.... |

You seem to have a very personal understanding of abusive relationships. I expect that you're likely involved in one. Women remain in such situations for a variety of reasons - most frequently because they fear the insecurity of the unknown and justify the security of their current situation. They're with someone who "loves" them and wouldn't ever hurt them if they were "sober".... But then we have a dichotomous problem to deal with, don't we?? I've seen women remain in situations long past reason... But I can't say I've ever seen anyone stay in a relationship where his "best friend" was also allowed to partake of the abuse... I have to agree with Poet deVine here. If this is a real situation, you MUST get some help... ASAP |

Rebecca I replied to this last night but I guess it didn't work. I was having problems and wasn't able to get back online until now. You have written a poem that I for one can relate to. I've been in this situation and it's hard to believe you can write such things without having been through it, or in it. I really hope you're not in a situation like this, and if you are that you get out of it. It don't get better, it gets worse. Wow. It's hard to know what to say after that. I have no words of wisdom or advice, but just to say that your writing has again proven to be very powerful, emotional, deep, and touching. Rebecca~ This is very heartbreaking and I dearly hope you are way outta there for your sake. Tis true what goes around comes around and eventually he will get his. Noone deserves to be treated like that and letting his mate smack you what an @#%*?
