As I think of yesteryear
To my eye comes a tear
A love was pledged on this day
We were ready come what may
I was filled with such hope
No idea we'd reach the end of the rope
Here and now four years passed
So many memories have been amassed

Do you remember the beauty of the bay
We enjoyed on that day in May
Returning to the place we met
With your love I was set
Holding all these memories dear
The softness of your voice I hear
Oh how far we have come
Still feel like that some

I am filled with infinite sorrow
Knowing for us there's no tomorrow
On the day we were joined together
Thought any storm we could weather
Just had to write about this
For you an anniversary wish
I wish for you all the best
Happiness, health, and all the rest

Friends are friend forever if the Lord's the Lord of them and a friend will not say never cause the welcome will not end.

Sad, but I enjoyed the way it was written anyway.   Funny how we hold on to things so much.

Such a sad, bittersweet poem! I know where you are coming from..I was divorced 3 weeks after my anniversary...but you know, sometimes the best thing is to cherish the memories and move on...

So very touching, but sad too.  It shows you've come a long way to be able to wish him well and move on, yet hold on to the memories.  Hang in there!

Very touching and sad....sometimes things just don't work out as we intended them to and we've no choice but to go on with our lives....my thoughts are with you during this hard time in your life.

Lone Wolf,
Very sad, but written with a true and good heart!  You are a very special person, my dear, and sometimes it feels better to say what you are feeling rather than keeping it inside.

Love Ya~

Lone Wolf, this brought a tear to my eye.  It is so poignant, and so similar to what I felt when my ex-wife and I got divorced.  The ending of a relationship can be very excruciating - but it's wonderful that you have such a talent for expressing your emotions!  Thanks so much for sharing this wonderful piece!  {{{HUGS}}}

Lone Wolf, there is nothing more painful than letting go of someone who has been such a big part of your life.  Often this is done with much bitterness and anger.  You however, write this with such compassion and grace I am almost in tears reading it.  A beautiful poem about moving on... one we could all stand to learn from.

Michael, Thank you very much.  Please have a tissue for those tears.  There is pain, but I choose not to dwell on what can never be.  I hope that it helps others to heal too.

James,
You are so right, my friend.  That is what I am hoping for.  I do forgive for all the past.  Would not be who I am today if it hadn't have happened.  Thank you!!

This month is our 30th wedding anniversary, too numerous were the events of hardship to follow that have brought us to the strenghts we have today, but I do know that this anniversary will be very special. Four years seems such a short time. May you have many more happy years in your future, and who knows what that future will be. Look ahead, it could be wonderful

Liz,

Congratulations on the 30th anniversary and I wish you and Tony the best, my friend.  I know this one will be more special than the rest.  Yes, four years is a short time....not sure what is in store for us in the future....hope to make the best of whatever comes.  Thank you for the kind words.

Take care,
LW
