Last Train of Thought ~~~ A lonely railway station with a pale moon shining down An unkempt lowly trash collector holds the lifes' work of a clown ~ A far off distant whistle a fast approaching train Crackling flame of open fire in a hearth I stare in pain ~ While twilights' Erie haze reflects the setting of the sun The leaping flames suppress the need of basking in the fun ~ A headlights' gleam cascading a sadness through mournful wail The slow approach perpetual in the cadence of wheel and rail ~ The old 600 rambled in as steam from ballast rose And brought with it a gentle rain that soaked right through my clothes ~ Conductor shouting 'all aboard' as hearth receives my notes I climb aboard the train of thought while distant thunder strokes ~~~ [This message has been edited by Rex Allen McCoy (edited 05-03-2000).] |

Why Rex Allen , Rex Allen, ---this was lovely cinematogrophy---(spelling?) kept waiting for the punch line---and got it at the end--something lonely 'bout a train.... Loved this...(almost as much as you...) |

I've always wanted to ride a train...this was really a nice ride in itself! To me, trains are something of the past, that we yet hang onto. With all the technology of today, they just seem so...dated, you know? I'm glad we still have them around...one day, I will ride one too. ![]() |
