Faithfully,
through the tears,
I write the words
that reveal my heart

Each day, I rise
lethargically,
not to renewed hope,
but to lonely vigil

With labored breath,
I take pen to hand
with deliberate scrawl,
to record my pain

It gnaws at my soul,
a dull and persistent ache
that clings to me,
without respite

I write of others,
who love with tenderness,
with dedication
and hope filled eyes

The smiles are there,
responding to a friend,
yet, hollow, empty,
echoed by listless eyes

This love I seek
to still the hurt,
may never be fulfilled
in this life

If this be so,
I accept my fate,
and write the words………
