My dad committed suicide when I was not quite 2 years old. My mother is old school and didn't talk about him. Nor did any other family members. I felt abandoned. Where were you? By rose ivy Where were you when I was two? Was I so terrible that you withdrew? Where were you when I was four? Beneath the ground you were no more. When I turned six and started school, I got a new dad, not so cool. When I was twelve and began to grow, Things went wrong. I needed you so. By the time I turned fifteen I had to run. But not to you. It wasn’t fun. As Iturned older I worked at life. Not having you near caused great strife. I found my love. I adopted his family. Where I had you not, there I had plenty. I am now old, my children grown. But never thought to abandon what gifts I was shown. Where were you? |

ivypoet: Such a sad and touching piece! Children always seem to feel guilty when such an act occurs at a young age. I'm glad you were able to make a happy life eventually! Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Rose, Welcome to Passions. I was touched by the tragedy expressed here by your poem and the fact that my own Mother died when I was two years old, but I think that the difference is that she did not commit suicide... I really think that the tragedy here is not found in the death of your Father, but in the way that he chose to live or the way that he chose to take his life... and also this is where the wonderful wonderful victory in your poem is found because you chose a better way. You chose to live and you chose to consider others in your life and the many many special gifts that you were given. A very good poem and I enjoyed reading it very very much. God bless you and, again, W E L C O M E. -Bob |
