Wild Horse My uncle used to make "home brew." He always had a barrel or two, Made out of oak and he would say He made the finest brew that way. One time, he hauled an empty out Into the field and set about To fill it to the very brink With water for his horse to drink. Next day, when we sat down to eat And all complained about the heat, We heard a whinny, strange and wild. My uncle's horse, so tame and mild, Was running madly here and there, With rolling eyes and flying hair. He bucked and jumped and shook his head. It looked as though he might have fed On loco weed, but we soon found The reason he was dashing round. He drank a half a barrel and he Was just as drunk as he could be! BettyLou~ *giggles* at this poetic tale~ Back in the days when my used-to-be and I owned thorougbred racing horses ... at the Calder Racing Course in Miami, FL, there was a 12 year old horse that just kept plodding along winning races~ A feature story was done on the horse and his owner said that the horse was a real beer drinker, who downed his beer with ease !!! This reminded me of that story~ *Huglets* ~*Marge*~ ~*The sound of a kiss is not as strong as that of a cannon, but it's echo endures much longer*~ |

Dear Marge: My uncle's horse took awhile to recover from his binge. Needless to say, the drinking barrel was changed for a new one! I guess there are some horses who do have a taste for beer! Of course, someone has to give it to them to being with! Probably not a good idea for a race horse! Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Joyce: The horse recovered very well, but it took him a few hours. He got a new drinking barrel right away! Thanks. Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Betty Lou I found this poem very humourous but I too doubt if that horse thought it was funny at the time! I wonder if it had a 'hang over'! Eh! Eh! Many years back my sister had a boyfriend who had a horse and it smoked cigarettes! It is hard to believe but I was there too witness it! Of course, the cigarette had to be lit and put in the horses mouth but as God's witness that horse did 'draw' on that cigarette! Love Verbena xo |

Dear Verbena: I'm not sure how that horse felt the day afer his binge! When he quit neighing and jumping around, we assumed he was over it all! Wow! A cigarette smoking horse! That was something to see! Love Betty Lou |
