The House Across the Bay There is a house across the bay, Whose windows catch the sun each day And throw back laser beams of light, To rival any star at night. It rises high among the trees And often on the evening breeze, I hear the sound of voices there And sometimes I will see a pair Of dark-haired girls, who like to take A canoe out upon the lake. On moonlight nights, I often hear Piano music, sweet and clear. Now, while I'm watching them, do they Look back across at me and say: "I wonder if she lives alone? The curiosity she's showm Is thinly veiled. It's only fair That we in turn, should sit and stare!" Since it's been vacant quite awhile, The sounds of laughter make me smile And so perhaps, I need to go, Around the bay and let them know, Their coming here has filled a spot That has been lonely, quite a lot! What happiness it brings to see Them live across the bay from me. Betty Lou Hebert |

This is beautiful! Such an open heart shines in this. And the imagery paints vivid pictures in my thought! Reflective windows here, too... Hugs Karen |

Dear Betty, Your beautiful writing reminds me of an oil-painting: perfectly sweet, yet mysterious and surreal Love, MiCheLLe If there cannot be equal in affection, then let the one with more be me - midnightblues |

Dear Joyce: Thanks for reading. Actually this is about a cabin at Priest Lake, Idaho and the neighbors who live across the bay. Unfortunately, we are 4 miles from lake Coeur d'Alene here in Wolf Lodge, so no bay around here either.
