Watching Winter Disappear

The traces of the winter past,
Begin to fade away at last.
No icicles hang from the eaves.
The postman comes and when he leaves,
I go to get the letters there,
Glad that I don't have to wear
A heavy coat. There's still some ice,
But the days are mostly nice!

Soon now, I'll hear the flickers cries.
Out in back a garden lies
Where crocuses begin to show
Even through the thinning snow.
The robins will appear ere long
To cheer us with their joyful song.
The swelling lilac buds give sign,
Their blooming season will be fine.
I promise you, I'll shed no tear
At watching winter disappear!

Oh it is good to see winter disappear, but I'm afraid we'll have to wait awhile.  Just a litle optimistic wishing?  Love, Joyce

SweetBettyLou~

Florida's Winter has yet to be
frigid and oh, so chilled, you see
But heck fire ... ya'll know me
I shiver if it's below 83 !!!

I wish you poetic words
blooming all the year through
Matter of fact ... I'm most certain
you'll ink a bouquet or two~

Dear Joyce:  Yes, it is wishful thinking! Everytime we get a few days of warmer weather, I get excited about spring!

Iliana:  I have long ago lost all my enthusiasm for winter! Yet, I am still living where there is lots of it! Thanks.

Dear Marge:  Love the poem!  Thanks. Ronnie sends his love to you and thanks for remembering him.  He is doing well now and almost back to normal after his surgery.

If you turn that "83" around, that is what it is here today!!

Winter here Trillium will most likely hang on well past February. This desert girl needs some of Marges 83 and is getting -11.
can remember when I thought the snow was such a pretty thing, now just hoping it leaves before March.

Annie:  It is snowing here today...again! We had a few days of high 30's and one day it even hit 40!  Felt like spring was on the way, but not to be.  We are lucky to have spring by March here too!  Thanks.

Dear MiCheLLe:  We too have had rain for several days and on our level, (2,600 ft.) at least, the snow has mostly disappeared and our two creeks are roaring near the tops of their banks!! We have never flooded here, but we have our fingers crossed!

I SO WISH MY WINTER WAS GOING THIS WELL!  LOL. YOU ARE PERFECTION...PERFECTION IS HARD TO CRITIQUE.  MAY BE AN APOSTROPHY AFTER  flickers IF THEY ARE POSSESSING THE CRIES>  FLICKERS'.  I SHOULD TALK, I RARELY USE PUNCTUATION AT ALL!  SERIOUSLY, YOUR WRITES ARE NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING.

Dear Betty Lou

I know it is really cold where you live but snow has that 'magic' about it!  You have a magical Christmas where my Christmas here is spent sweltering in 100 plus degrees Fahrenheit!  Of course I do not know what is is like to be frigid!  I'm like Marge.......I start to feel cold when the temperature drops below 83 degrees Fahrenheit!

This might be of some comfort for you.......enduring your winter makes you appreciate spring all the more!  Eh! Eh!

Anyhow, I loved your poem!

Love Verbena xo

MUSEconnieHUES;  YOU ARE RIGHT ABOUT THE COMMA AFTER FLICKER'S CRIES.  THAT IS A MISTAKE I DIDN'T CATCH WHEN I PROOF READ. THANKS FOR TELLING ME.

YOU ARE FAR TOO KIND IN YOUR REMARKS. AS YOU HAVE JUST DISCOVERED, I AM FAR FROM BEING PERFECT, OR I WOULDN'T MAKE ANY MISTAKES AT ALL!  STILL, IT'S A LOVELY THING TO READ! THANK YOU!

Dear Verbena:

You're right, we really do appreciate spring when it arrives. The first few days are joyous, knowing all the cold and snow is behind us!  Thanks for reading and commenting.

Love
Betty Lou
