I passed through hell
A few months ago,
When death came to
My wife I loved so.
It seemed a sudden fall
From all I had known
The mist of grief arose
And encumbered it all.

Until just recently
When to me my brother came,
As if to heaven I'd come
To walk, not being lame.
My spirits were renewed
During his nine day stay,
Freed from my hellish hole
Where I had been waylaid.

Together as one, we worked
To do things that needed done,
We boldy united our strength
To accomplish, with fun.
With wit and determination
A sense of aliveness emerged
Freed from my miry life
A new optimism he urged.

I have been to heaven
And I know that quite well,
Lifted by a Brother's love
From a new-born hell.
It's only temporary
'Til my feet are on the ground,
Back in the land of the living
With such mem'ries, I'll rebound.

Yes, nine days of Heaven,
Blessed by a Brother, divine,
I'm so glad God sent him my way
With uplifting joy sublime.
I know not what Time shall hold
After he's gone back to his home,
But this one thing I know---
Nine days of Heaven I've known!
