On a cool October evening Sun descending White scattered clouds filter A baby blue sky I listen to the hush in the air As birds and insects sounds Now are spaced in longer intervals The second hand is in slow motion Nature's clock is set five minutes to twelve As ants crawl into their nest Squirrels gather their last nuts And birds turn their wings south Anticipation Is the only word I can think of As I sit in a garden swing Watching a tree stump burn Wondering what kind of winter will it be? |

Funny when the leaves start fallin and you can see threw the trees you do wonder what winter will bring. I love winter It is nice to see the white beauty of it. Great poem and great thoughts. |

ah I much prefer summer, winter seems harsh to me, but well written I breathe the dust, the dust is me. |

Lovely, my dear friend! I hope it will be a mild one....though I love the spakle and enchantment of ice on the trees! Love, Ellie A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |

It is indeed beautiful here in Mississippi right now, isn't it? I can't wait to find out what kind of Winter we will have. I am hoping it will be a very cold one for some reason. This is simply beautiful, Lady. We must have a visit someday. Sometimes the heart needs the solace of solitude and silence. |

I enjoyed this piece very much. I anticipate the changes in the weather as well. Seems symbolic of the changes of life. Thanks for the read. Marilyn. |

Thanks everybody.. I am not much for winter..but Fall always bring anticipation, and especially this year. Temptress that would be great I need to get away occasionally. |

I guess we are all wondering what winter will bring this year. I live in Northern Idaho, so snow is always in the picture. We just don't know how much yet!! Hope it's a mild one. Betty Lou Hebert |

SongBird~ Well ... I always said that the stork knew what he was doing when he dropped me in Florida~ I don't do cold well at all ! ! Actually I hope the entire nation has a very mild winter. Of course anything below 60° is Brrrrrrr to me~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

Forgive me for bumping this one up..but here it is almost October again.. and I am now in California..where there is not much anticipation for winter.. only a wishful need for rain. Miss writing and posting but have little time as I am helping my parents through the winter of their life. |
