Listening to beautiful strains
I understand the harmony
I 6/4, V, I.
I have to dig for it, even now
but I don’t need that
to know the beauty.

How can something so lovely
remind me of something
that makes me want
to tear myself apart?

Run my fingers down my arm
lightly now, but harder
it can’t erase the things I’ve done
nothing can
but hell, at least I have a soundtrack

I used to be part of this beauty
but now, I am
a walking dissonance
banging into the lovely
chords, and making them
fall out of time
fall out of beauty

until it is music no more

it is better
to listen to the beautiful strains
from right here

Untainted, and unreal

Love's a lovely lad
His bringing up is beauty
Who loves him not is mad
For I must pay him duty

I feel the sadness here when music fails to evoke the beauty in it..
very sad and emotional poem.
