The Gorge This gorge is such a lovely place, With greenery and Queen Anne's Lace. The waterfalls, with rainbow spray. Deep shadows at the end of day. The moonlight casts a silver sheen And adds enchantment to each scene. Splashes of color, here and there, Are flowers, midst the Maidenhair, A fern that grows in northern wood Among the foothills of Mt. Hood. The southern wall is rent with rifts And from each opening, water drifts, To reach the river, near at hand, Columbia, which drains the land From north and east, then makes its way To flow into a tidal bay, Then cross the bar, where it will be Part of the blue, Pacific sea! Dear Joyce: I actually just wrote this one a couple of days ago. I write so much nature poetry however, I'm not surprised it seems familiar. Nice to hear from you. Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

I love it there. I go through there every couple of weeks to see a friend in The Dalles. It is always gorgeous, just as you describe. |

Phaerie Child: Lucky you! I used to have a friend in Portland that I visited regularly, but since she passed away I hardly get down that way. I will make it a point to go before the end of the summer. Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |
