The afternoon sun drifts lazily southwest Sparkling off leaves as it reaches the crest Of the hill to the east where the animals play Crickets are singing, tall grasses do sway In a soft balmy breeze of gossamer blend Gently fanning the hollow where giant oaks bend Toward the river that gently runs its slow course Gliding through stones, feeding the moss Gurgling quietly on this late summer scene Little is stirring in the meadow so green Off to the north birds gather to wing Not to be seen till the following spring I find myself sighing as I drink in the view My spirit is rising, refreshed and brand new Healed by nature in glorious array Signaling hope for yet a new day Hope for the meadow, hope for the hill Hope for the traveler who bends to its' will the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |

Dear Pegasus, I see you are yielding to the rapture of spring also. Well done. I have been gone for four days or I would never have let your poem move without answering. I look forward to them. Love, Joyce |
