Down Country Roads

Down country roads, I drove today
And watched the farms along the way.
Times past, I knew this life so well.
Before the city worked its spell.
The houses have a friendly air.
I see both cows and horses there.
There are some fields where grass is high
And playing children catch my eye.

Along the lanes, spring flowers grow.
There are so many that I know.
Sweet trilliums, beneath the trees
And violets,are some of these.
Each valley has its own delight.
I drive until approaching night
Spawns beads of light in yard and home.
I've had my day to dream and roam
And so I turn the car around.
Stop by a pond to hear the sound
Of singing frogs, so much a part
Of living in the country's heart!

personally, I think country girls are much more interesting than city girls......   nicely done dear!!

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

pegasus111:  Thanks for reading.  I spent a lot of years in the city and I'll take the country anytime!  I'll probably never go back to city life..............if I can help it!

Betty....yes it was good homesick...am actually back in the country and am loving it, but as a child...oh my the memories. spent many many years in "sin city" and to be back in the country is indeed a treat. we won't be in this particular part of the county for long, but will not be moving back to city either. I hear Montana is beautiful.

Dear Annie:  Parts of Montana are very beautiful, but there is some rather desolate country there too.  Same as most states I guess.  Depends on where you are thinking of going!  Good luck with the move when it happens.

Beautiful. It reminded me of a day out shooting photography. I bet it is so serene there.
