Could Be Anywhere...

the Exile

thirteen pigeons on a light
pole arched over traffic lane
number fourteen perched alone.
six feet of empty steel
'tween him and the flock
no-bird land...perhaps?

Wondering...why the pariah?
what awful avian deed done
cause, effect, pigeon exile?
He glances wistfully it seems
turns eye quickly, submissive
when another looks his way.

they chatter on, no mind
ignoring the one outcast
his loneliness felt, sorrow.
his plight recognized, recorded
behavior causing speculation
why is he alone in his crowd?

thirteen pigeons on a pole
turning back on one of their own
or is it he that separates?
six feet of lonely abyss
illuminates and illustrates...
empathy, sympathy blooms anew.

Daniel~
I'm not coming back for an 'answer' ...
because I just love this ... love the possibilites ... the perspectives ... just the ponderous puzzle of it all~

Wouldn't want anything to spoil it for me ... ya' know ?
