Trilliums

In April, trilliums appear
Beneath the trees, within our wood.
I watch for them this time, each year.
I'd keep them always, if I could.
They stand profusely everywhere.
I try to walk so I won't tread
Upon their blossomed heads, so fair
And not disturb their forest bed.
And as they age, they turn to pink.
No other flower that I see,
Appeals to me so much, I think.
I take a few to press, with me.
In these days still wet and cold,
Three-petaled purity they show.
They are a pleasure to behold.
Grace the ground, whereon they grow!

A lovely poem about a lovely flower.  I was the recipient of a nice trillium plant for my birthday last summer.  I planted it and it has come up and is a good sized patch.  so I am eagerly watching and protecting it.  love, Joyce

ahhh...the flower speaks about her favorite...   lovely

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Dear Joyce: I do love that flower!  We have hundreds of plants growing in the woods and that makes April very special for me.

pegasus111;  I joined PIP 4 years ago in April and when it came to entering a password, I looked up and saw a bouquet of trilliums I had picked that morning, and that's how I got my name! Thanks!
