I taught Sunday School today But it was not my ordinary Sunday school class The children's face's All had a different cast Gone were the smiles I'm used to seeing A worried look Was in their eyes And the words they said Made tears want to come To my eyes A little boy of four Talked of getting a gun To protect his house Those bad men Are not far away I heard him say I saw what they done On TV the other day Then I heard him say It happened over in ________ he said As he named A nearby town It was then I realized That the sweet little innocent Little boy Didn't realize New York Was nearly 1200 miles away So, I tried to calm his Undeserved fears By explaining to him Just how far away New York was to him today Dear God, A little child Taught me today Just how much the earth shrank In a single day |

I am so sorry that the children see and hear this. They need their innocence and you are right. The world has shrunk. Joyce |

Yes, the children are innocent. My granddaughter is sooo unaware- she trust us. How dare they take away this innocence? Thanks for the hearfelt poem. Melton |

Yes, how dare they...for that alone they would be deserving of the wrath of our justice. Very well expressed, Songbird. |

Well done! Whatever we are feeling now, is bound to spill over into the lives of our children. It is hard to know how to comfort them. We can't protecct them totally from the media in it's many forms and I can see a great anxiety in many of the children I know. It fuels my anger. Betty Lou Hebert |
