On the rolling priarie to the east There is a tale of long forgone This is the story of a cottage And its dreamy lavender lawn Years ago there was a child Her name was April, though she was born in May for her mother, Mary, thought so That this name sounded more gay Well April basked in much love And played alot in the sun Oh she was a sweet little child Our tale has just begun Sweet little April had one dream That is to grow up And grow old in this cottage that she loved For she couldn't bear to leave Her quaint little lavender lawn Now April's father, Benny Gave to her one day A lovingly crafted loveseat On her eighteenth birthday This loveseat is seated on the porch Overlooking the lavender lawn April daydreamed much in it And she loved most to lay in it til dawn And it was on this loveseat which overseas the lawn That April shared her first kiss With her first love, Shawn They were very much in love Everyone could see And one fine day oh such a sweet day Shawn said to April "please marry me!" So marry they did And Shawn moved in (he was an orphan anyway, and he knew that April couldn't bear to leave) A year later they had a beautiful child They named this rosy-cheeked boy Berlin April and Shawn nutured him well And taught him how to love This little family had so much fun In the sun, on the lavender lawn Berlin grew up wise and strong And fell in love He took a wife and moved away Then Shawn fell sick And within that year passed away April mourned and reminiced much In the loveseat by the lawn She missed her husband and child But she was also very strong She spent much of her time Reading by the lawn And wrote lovely poems too Of God's blessing and of the enchanting dawn "Courage, wisdom, kindness and love These are most important in our lives" She told me before she died I could still remember when she breathed her last With me by her side She was smiling and ever so beautiful On that glorious day Lavender perfumed scent surrounded us As God brought her up to Heaven to stay On the rolling priarie to the east There once lay a lavender lawn And in its place now is a grave That tells a story of love and grace And of sweet April born in May --------------------------- This is an attempt at something different.. hope you guys'll like it Love MiCheLLe [This message has been edited by midnightblues (11-20-2004 10:39 AM).] |

I love your story or your rendition of "a tale of long forgone" as you have written. What I love the most are the values that this story instills. Values of home, family, poetry, and faith... Just to mention a few. I enjoyed reading your poem very very much. God bless. -Bob |
