Regrets

Softly they drift to me
The images in the night
Touching me deeply
Weaving through the passages
Of a tortured soul

Vainly I search
Through the swirling mist
Only the echoes remain
Faint with the hum of forgotten promises
Images flickering on a transparent screen

Fading into an unforgiving past
Lost but never forgotten
