Hungry Bears We were asleep when they came in And woke us with the awful din Of garbage cans attacked with glee To see what treasures there might be Inside the sacks they hauled on out And tore apart. There is no doubt, When bears are hungry, they will find Food of just most any kind. Their next endeavor took them to The apple tree! What did they do, But tear the branches all around And drop them down upon the ground. There’s not an apple left to see, So there will be no pies for me! And they came back the next night too. In case they might have missed a few. So now our garbage we will keep Inside, until they go to sleep! Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Joyce: Nice to hear from you! I haven't wanted to post lately, as several of mine were resurrected from the Archives and I thought I'd wait until they dwindled away a bit. It has been slow though, as you say. Hopefully , it will pick up again soon. Yes, this really happened this week. Our old dog kept growling on two different nights, but I thought maybe he was dreaming. Then we heard all the clatter in our carport! Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Marge: I can always buy apples but they are not as satisfying as when the pie is made from apples in your own tree. Will did find ONE apple the bear missed, so we shared it today. That poor apple tree has been a favorite with bears for several years now, so this is not the first time! They don't eat the Granny Smith though so I have those to fall back on. Too tart I suspect! Ronnie send his love! Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Enchantress: Thanks for your comments. Bears are one of the hazards/perks of living in the country. A couple of days ago, we had a mama moose and her calf wading in our creek. I am actually more afraid of mama moose than I am of the bears! Love Betty Lou Betty Lou Hebert |

Dear Betty Lou I too would wait to put your garbage bins out until those bears hibernate!!! I'm glad that the only thing that those bears have wrestled with is your garbage bin and the apple tree. Keep safe my dear friend! Love Isobel ox |
