Look closer at the portrait of your life.
Check it for fine detail.
A copy— a print—a forgery ?
Pleasant and pretty good,
but not the genuine article.
I was content to keep my copy,
Easy to look at - a pretty good fake.
I had never touched the original,
actually ‘felt’ the strokes of paint.
The depth of colour was missing,
yet I never looked that close.

Until...

I happened upon the ‘real thing’.
Saw the richness of each magic pigment.
The difference was profound.
Incredible beauty I beheld,
never to be satisfied with less again.
In awe I stepped back...

Perfection in sharp clarity,
I commissioned a new picture.
