this is a poem for my collection of poemsabout the sky. The title refers to the mood of the sky on a particular evening. The sky is in a motherly mood

Just before dusk lays its ebony veil
Is an incredible beauty you can almost inhale

Rich warm air settles sweetly in calm
watering earth in its whispering balm

Trees silhouetted on an fiery sky
A black lace salute to day gone by

Soft gauzy clouds weave purple streaks
In magnificent backdrop to mountain peaks

an invisible beat of night music occurs
As humanity quietens and wilderness stirs

Scent of darkness in the hour before night
rises up from the rivers, blending in twilight

The sky holds her arms out offering embrace

A promise for tomorrow of peace and grace
