My love was lost on maiden voyage,
amist her trip at sea.
She left singing bon voyage,
with promises to return to thee.

Parting was such sweet sorrow,
as I peered through misty breath,
bidding thee a good morrow,
was like putting thee to death.

She set sail towards coming dawn,
disappearing to distant horizon,
with the crests from stearn gone,
the sea began to wizen.

Her journey was blessed with many sights,
from basking virgin paradise,
to star filled nights,
all competing to entice.

She sailed for quite a while,
as God hovered above her,
but then came that dreadful mile,
and hostile waters did take over.

That fair ship did her best,
to ride out the crashing wave,
but time ended that dreadful quest,
as she sunk to a watery grave!

This reminds me of a 19th century lament type of poem...quite moving! (Darn those sad endings!)

"I am the hobbyhorse. I am the stapler in the mud, the toad in your brain. I am a head full of birds, a future full of apples."
