My heart like a dusty old piano Echoed timelessly in an empty hall Sporadic,sad notes with interludes of silence Reminders of empty years, peppered with hope Time gathered dust and scattered my dreams Hardening with the closing of each door And the jarring of each sorry note I touched Years dragged and like the piano I felt neglected faded like an ancient but familiar photograph The dawning of the day we met began as any other But a new haunting melody began to whisper to me Sweet high notes, gentle like distant birdsong My heart sighed in response to your lullaby Awakened by the promise of your evergreen anthem Singing soft warm lyrics of eternal devotion As your song broke the silence of my waiting soul All at once I discovered life was wonderful I had missed you all the years I hadnt met you All the time I gathered dust and without music Loves breath came in with the dawn that day Blowing away the dust and cradling my heart With the velvety whisper of your incredible love. |
