(AN: My other poems, begining with To My Lili Marlene provide the backdrop for this piece. Richard Marx inspired the title for this one...)

Right Here Waiting

To those who think I can't let go.
You're brains work far to damned slow.
I can in good conscience set her free.
Only if being with him makes you happy.

Though my heart will ultimately be broken.
Due to a love unexpressed and now unspoken.
I love you enough to be content to be a friend.
Hope this friendship will not have a bitter end.

My ear is always open to hear.
My shoulder, too, to catch the stray tear.
Should you have a hurt or he breaks your heart.
I'll be there, though emotionally torn apart.

Though foresaken to the cold, lonely path.
Unrequited love, yet again shows me her wrath.
I content myself by considering you my good friend.
So I'll see you later, round the next road bend.

Seeing you sitting by me in class.
Time slows and speeds and fails to pass.
You say your new hairstyle is too short.
"Not at all." I do retort.

I bite my tongue, lest you think it lies.
I do not say, "It brings out your eyes."
A rich, deep shade of brown they are.
At least I have your memory to sustain me far.

Even so, you're still my friend.
I'll be there for you, till the end.
Unless you wish me out of your life.
Even then, I'll raise no strife.

My happiness is no real matter in this case.
So if you need me to give you some space.
I will gladly do so for your sake.
Though it will bring me much heartache.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Carl, you have one of the most loving and chivalrous hearts I have been blessed to know, and I know with all my heart if she truly wants to follow her heart in a direction away from you, they'll be so many other young women out there who are looking for someone like you who only wants to make someone happy and feel special and love unselfishly! (wipes tears) Though I am sorry to hear of your heartache, I am also so happy you are feeling love so unselfishly, sweet friend, you will find true happiness, I know you will, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Carl, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
