Etched in the illusion of time

0 posted 2003-09-24 07:41 PM

**I think my depression is beautiful**

pensive, tonight
water
beautiful and bathed in darkness
tears like silk
drip
over my arms

depression is sweet
a dream painted with irised beauty
brushes doused by
the orchid heavens
paling in lightless reverence through dawn

bruised eyelids
blend in

fingers to trace contours
of my face
ah, linger memory..
I envy you

times
past

pourquoi est-ce que tout échoue?
in the midst of my gardened world
endless fields
looming lines
of dawn-tinged, frosted roses
dying, but kissed

inhaling the wistful scents of my Austria
in this mind
when everything was a song
before I turned around
too many times

and it was gone.
but..

though I stroll through cobblestone alleyways
and remember
the cafes
before they knew empty

placid desertion

under the big window sign,
Blumen ~ fünf Cents ein Dutzend
I whispered
"meet me in vienna, tonight"

now, I haven't the chance
to ask
if they are still sold
or did prices rise,
like I raise my eyes
up to you

God, why

oh, what I wouldn't give
for another golden Austria night
to breathe

or bleed
just to see if I could be
immortal

like he was.

IndigoEve:  I found this very poignant! Beautiful images in it. I'm not sure of my French, but does the line, "pourqqoi est-ce que tout echoue?" mean "Why do I always fail?"

This took me to another place...Absolutely georgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm saving this one to go back to. I dream of these places to see them one day..cobblestone streets, and cafes ..quaint little out of the way places. Thank you for taking me there for a few moments in time!!!!!!

I really enjoyed this poem. I like how you used imagery to arouse emotions/reactions for the readers. It almost reads like someone's thoughts. It got a very "European" vibe from it. (not sure if that was your intention or not)

(big hugggsssssss) This is sad but ever so beautiful, sweet friend, I think you festooned your tears with such grace and flowers and vineyards and awnings over patisseries! (sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is wonderfully expressed, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Trillium-If that is what you read it as, then that is what it is supposed to say Ah, sweet poignancy, indeed..

Richy-Thank you for reading I think I'll post another tonight..hehe

SharaRose-Oh you are so very welcome, my friend! That is EXACTLY what I wish I could do..but to write in the cafes of Paris and Vienna is a true dream of mine. *sighs*

LiquidMidnight-Welcome to Pip first of all! The "European" vibe was my full intention. Wow, I'm just happy someone understood my writing.'tis rare, tis rare.

Mistletoe Angel-beautifully said, Noah. I'm so happy that you liked it.

Very interesting slant on depression, never thought of it this way before.  Hope to see more of your poetry.
