Gather the valuables, What do I choose? Shall I run?Shall I stay? Will it flood?Go away? You're not here to help me decide. I'm in danger, with no place to hide. My neighbor just stopped, We're going to see water. He says I should leave and Stay with my grand-daughter. Wish I lived in a tower, I'll just shut off the power. Take my good dog and we'll run away To find a high place we can stay. Jlyce 10/21/03 |

Dear Joyce: We have been hearing about the flooding problems on the west side of the state, but didn't realize it was effecting your area. I heard there was as much as 6 inches of rain in some places. No wonder it's flooding. Good luck and hope your place is not damaged in any way! Will look forward to a report soon! I'm home now, safe and my place was untouched. The river crested 2 feet lower than predicted or it would have reached me. I stayed with my granddaughter in Mount Vernon who is near the river but on higher ground. The water came to her driveway and her neighbors lower down were inundated I live in the flood plain but it takes a break in the dike to cause me trouble most years. They fully expected the dike to weaken and let water through. I am so thankful. It took me a long time to get home today as the west side bridge was closed and I had to go way around. Love, Joyce |

Joyce: This is good news! I just responded to a reply you left on a poem but hadn't read this message yet, so didn't know you were home. So glad you are safely home and no damage there. Betty Lou Hebert |
