Summer Storm On the horizon I can see Great thunder-heads rise silently, But in their billowed mass there lies Such power that will lash the skies And send us scurrying inside From the furious storm to hide. When lightning flashes, thunder roars. It rattles windows and screen doors. Then suddenly, there is the sound Of torrential rain around. We watch the gutters overflow And drench the flower beds below. We look with awe at the mad sight Of wind-lashed trees. A pallid light Which seeps away and dims the day, Would indicate it's here to stay, At least awhile, so we resume Activities, but thunder's boom Keeps us atuned to what goes on Until this summer storm is gone. Marge: Thanks for reading and no, I live in Idaho, but we are in the foothills of the Selway/Bitteroot Mts. and get some fierce thunder storms during the summer. Betty Lou Hebert |
