You broke my heart in small pieces
And didn't care a bit.
No, instead of being sorry
You stopped to stomp on it.

You gave one stomp for good measure
Before you turned to go.
My heart was stronger than you thought.
You broke your little toe.

No I am not laughing at you,
That's a reflective smile.
I know that foot with hurting toe
Will not stomp for a while.

Now that you know how misery feels,
Put on your boots and go.
Oops! You'll need to wear a slipper
On that tormented toe.

If you should come around again,
There's something you should know.
I will be wearing boots and that
Is a defenseless toe!
