Shadows On the Mountain

The shadows on the mountain,
In the ever-changing light,
First conceal its grandeur
And then reveal its might!

It fills the sky to eastward
And each morning, when I rise,
I pull the drapes to see it
Rise majestic, in the skies.

On stormy days or foggy,
When there's nothing there to see,
I feel such disappointment
And the day seems wrong to me.

As though I need its presence,
For the progress of the day.
A constant reassurance,
It will be there, come what may!

I watch to see it outlined
By the colors of the morn.
It gives me inspiration
And a thousand poems are born!

I love your poem about the mountains.  I too have a view of mountains from my home especially of Mount Baker.  I hope I don't wake up some morning to see him gone for that will mean he has blown his top and I better start running.  Love, Joyce

There's nothing quite as beautiful as the mountains. Much inspiration is born there.
Well written my friend!

Betty, this was so enjoyable and through your words I felt I was sitting and watching your mountain. What a special place and gift to live so close to such majesty.

Betty Lou...It sure seems like lately I have been reading your beautiful poems alot. This is very lovely. A long time ago while living in California each morning my wife would look at a mountain out the living room window and she would say she was hugging her mountain each day.Enjoyed very much...Paul

This poem about your beautiful mountain is so BEAUTIFULLY written, it flows as gracefully as the river along your river road! Congratulations on such a stunning piece of work.
