A Place of Solitude The wilderness in which I live, Has valleys veiled in rain. Has precipice and waterfalls And places I have lain Upon the cliffs, to look across The lovely countryside, Where forests grow and in the trees The graceful deer can hide. Where flowers bloom and rivers run And every day I see. The beauty of the natural world As it's revealed to me. But yet, I left and traveled far. I saw some wondrous sights. The Bay of Fundy's awesome tides. The magic northern lights. Great mountains, tall and deserts dry And everything between. I always made comparisons Between each place I'd seen And that which I had left behind And memories that wooed. That coaxed me into coming back To savor solitude! I like this, I have done the same, been many other places, but I always miss the Hills, and I always come back. One's not half two it's two are halves of one EE Cummings |

This is beautiful. Sometimes the best places aren't the most famous ones - just places where our hearts find peace. |

BettyLou~ You caught me up in your reverie of serenity. I have a place in my mind that I can take myself back to in a heartbeat~ This was just lovely and your cadence of rhyme is captivating. Wonderful imagery ! *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |

ah, Betty, this is beauty and I feel the peace! A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails. |
