Ordinary Summer Yesterday a friend came by, Wondering what’s my most memorable Footsteps in summer since I breath. I said truly I don’t remember Any trails I left in youth. All there I recall are in few years back, When I was sick my father drove me To the beach and ocean, to enjoy Tea and coffee, observing nature Swaying in harmony with the wind, While air laying herself on her guests As their warm blankets, heating up The dance. But truly if you asked me What’s the most memorable thing Regardless seasons and decade changes, They are all the quiet evenings, Ordinary nights when we have Dinner with the whole Family sitting, chatting as clock walked by. It doesn’t matter if it was argument, Or that it was humor of the day, What’s matter is that we are whole. What’s matter is that we enjoy time spent. ©May 4, 2003 Eliza Simmons //How did I do on this poem? Eliza Simmons |
