SISTER So many people Step across The pathways Of our lives. They quickly disappear Amidst the swirling Mists of time. They become vague, Unimportant, And remain nameless In our mind. On the other hand A few, and one can’t Help but wonder, Are they chosen? Walk the path With you, Step by step, Stride by stride. Like twin hearts, Beating in time With each other. Always there With a hand To help you. When the path Gets too rocky. Constantly ready To unselfishly help Push you Upwards and onwards, Over the hilly, Oft-times frightening, Seemingly mountainous, Un-scaleable terrain. They willingly control Your downward slides, Always dependable, Always faithful, And always, but always A treasured gift. A person Who is so much more Than a friend. Someone who rejoices With you, Shares your triumphs. Someone Who is constant, There for you. A shoulder to lean on, During the sadness of one’s life. Someone, who cries with you And for you I share my pathway With one such person, She is called Sister. Words cannot express How fortunate I feel, Or how grateful I am That for all my life, Even though at times I didn’t recognize it, My sister has walked By my side, Physically and emotionally. SURELY THIS IS A GOD-GIVEN GIFT. I be me BUT who does me be? |
