Yesterday Just when I think that I can sleep, My memory decides to keep A vigil over yesterday And carries me away. Back to the past, reluctantly, To where my childhood waits for me And I re-live the joy and pain Of growing up, again. The places and the faces there Are lost to me, but I still care. Remembering them is sweet and yet, I wish I could forget. For sorrow walks those roads with me And makes unwelcome company. The hands of time, still can't dispel Remembering, so well! DearSweetLady~ You 'knew' I would find my way to this one~ To walk the roads of yesterday is sometimes the most beautiful trip I could take ... at other times it runs me head-on into memories better left 'unremembered' ... but, for the most part .... it's a trip not to be missed~ This is simply beautifully done~ *Hugs* ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ |
