Don't Let It Be This Way < !signature-->As the rain was falling from the sky She placed the gun up to her head She just couldn't help but think That she'd be better off dead Life had just gotten unbearable Since her husband passed away So she decided to join him On this God-forsaken day As she sat there trembling With all the memories rushing by She recalled their first kiss Then she started to cry The words that he had said that day Brought a glimmer to her eye Till her mind sped forward To the day her lover died She remembered telling him "I don't love you anymore" He went storming from the house Slamming their front door She got a call late that night To tell her he was gone She could never say "I'm sorry" He was never coming home She wondered how she could go on How she could ever forgive herself but then As she sat there crying in the rain She heard his voice again "I have always loved you Please know you hold my heart One day we will be together Never again to part I know right now you feel Such an awful pain But I am begging you Don't let it be this way" Just then as she looked up A rainbow filled the sky She knew it was his sign to her This wasn't how she was supposed to die As the gun dropped to the ground Again the tears filled her eyes She knew that he was waiting for her She'd hold him again in time All my love, Jeffrey I lie awake in a world filled with dreams, but dreams can be so real when you don't know you're asleep [This message has been edited by Jeffrey Carter (edited 06-19-2000).] |

What a story you've woven Jeffrey! Sad, and at the same time, thought-provoking. Reminds me to "think before we speak". Good choice for the book submission Jeffrey! Best wishes, /Kit |

Jeffrey~ I was captivated by this, an amazing tale that you have woven here. I imagine that most of us have thought after an argument and someone leaves that "what if...." but it is so hard to treat everyday and every moment as if it were your last~ A beautiful message of hope and memory at the end as well knowing that one moment of anger does not replace all the many words of love. Thank you so much for sharing this~ |

Jeff~ Beautiful! i am completely moved by this piece! so many times in life we wonder "what if"...thank you for reminding us all that even though we part from one another in life...we do see one another again. Hugs my friend Take care, Amy "Don't be dismayed at goodbyes. A farewell is before you can meet again. And meeting again after a moment or a lifetime is certain for those who are friends." "Fate exists but it can only take you so far, Because once you're there It's up to you to make it happen." |

Oh this was beautiful! Every time I'm mad at someone I think before I speak and this story is exactly why. You always have to think to yourself, "what if these are the last words this person hears from me?". Thank you for writing and sharing this wonderful piece. --You can either take me as I am...or you can watch me as I go.-- |

this moved to a strong ending. I like it Kathleen "How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. I love thee to the depth and breadth and height My soul can reach, when feeling out of sight For the ends of Being and ideal Grace." Elizabeth Barrett Browning |

I really don't know what to say, I'm kinda new at this. But, you really got something there. If only one person who is going through that situation could read your poem, it might make them stop and think. that would be wonderful thing. good job!!!!!!!! s |

I do love this style of writing! A moment in time and the thoughts within it. It grabbed me immediately and held me through the wonderful ending. Very nice... |
