Bigger Than Life Retrospection's tyke, if trouble rears an angry head, will know he's in the house, patrolling hallways, waiting out the storm, the double bar on exit doors for safety's sake. His being dad, had always made me feel the most protected closest him, surpassing closet quietude, for crashing thunder spoke few fears as I expected him to be the safe deposit where no ill would think to plunder. Gone those days, he seemed immortal. Childhood memories speaking volumes louder then than now, my grown-up fears have learned the cynic's chortle, dressed themselves in anxious costumes, cowed, where courage once had shown up. --LGE [This message has been edited by H. Written on father's day - what a wonderful tribute from the perspective of small eyes. |
