How many times can hope be crushed Before it’s finally dead I do believe that this was the final blow A sunflower grew, and thrived And one day it was crushed But she rose again And again, she was crushed And again she rose And again and again… How many times can hope be crushed Before it’s finally dead? One time, a handsome man came by The sunflower’s hope arose Only to have that man’s heel Grind into her face It was the final blow She lies, crushed, on the ground still When people walk by, they say “Oh, that flower must have been beautiful” Too bad they never said this before Perhaps the final blow would have never come How many times can hope be crushed Before it’s finally dead? "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |

How painful, LoveBug. Is this about you personally? If so, I think you are a beautiful sunflower who writes great poetry! Hope you rise again soon. Elizabeth I'm grabbing my hat and coat I'm leaving the cat a note Quick call me a ferry boat-getting out of town! |

Love Bug~ I know this feeling too.... but you see, that flower just needs to let the sun shine and the rain heal, and in time hope will thrive again.... I hope this isn't a personal reflection if it is , please feel the sun shine! ![]() |

Such sadness, this poem speaks of...I hope the character is not you... Hope lives on eternally that is one thing to be kept in mind always... else the point of life and its various beauties is lost... Take Care LoveBug, Regards, sudhir |

Thank you for replying, friends. Yes, this poem is about me. The person I wrote about in my last poem didn't work out... But friends like you help the pain. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -Oscar Wilde |
