My broken shell rode with the tides, Till one day, strong wind and wave, Cast it carelessly upon the shore, To lie in a wet, sandy grave. My encrusted outer shell protected me, From the seekers of exotic things, My inner side was hidden from sight, The iridescent-pearl layers and rings. Such delicate, subtle tiers, opalescent, Spoke all of my secrets, whispered, silkily, My desires shown within multiple layers, Though the crusty side hid this safely. The sun slipped away; nightfall hooded the beach, He rose, surrounded by mist, from the sea, Walked to the sand, dripping passion and life, As he stood, he felt something near his right heel. He looked down, saw my shell lying soundless, In hazy light of the three-quarter moon, As his eyes brushed across the crust of my shell, The scars from pounding waves vanished soon. He reached down, and so gently, carefully lifted My broken shell, held it next to his heart, He knew my true beauty, did not look within, For he felt it, and healing did start. < !signature--> Syntax Each instant comes with a price ~ J.
