Counting your Wealth One of the ways to count your wealth Is if you are in perfect health For when affliction comes your way It changes every single day You see the world though different eyes And nothing comes as a surprise You look not into future deeds But fight to care for daily needs The lucky ones have magic eyes That see the wonders, not demise For muddled visions turn quite clear The obvious, to treasures dear What once was passed without a glance Become the jewels that well enhance The day, the moment, time and space Lose their measure, find their place The senses blossom into love Of splendors you weren’t thinking of And now your joy is in each word That in the past was never heard For each skill lost, another gained And brighter sunshine after rain Your eyes caress each flower, each bloom And every one your heart consumes You hear the birds, you see the sky You notice well each day go by You live and love with much more vim And feel contentment deep within A strange disease can rob your health But give you cause to count your wealth Elizabeth Santos |

So true Elizabeth it's easy to take all the gifts we've been given for granted. I have been very ill before and it certainly opens the eyes to the wonders that surround us. I thought you said this very well with your words here. I don't advocate disease for everyone to open their eyes but it is good to open the eyes, ears and heart to the reality of the preciousness of life. Very well done as usual.........ethome.. |

IT's so true liz.. What's the significance of wealth if you are in ill health!.. good description! - James The beauty of nature is displayed, not through itself, but through the creatures dwelling within its bosom. |

Lizzie, my friend~ You reach for a hand ... and touch a heart. Mine is touched by the wonder of you.
