She cried herself to
   sleep last night
Her decision made
   but at what a price.
Unaware, her fingers
   lay across her belly
Cradling the tiny
   life nestling there.
Recalling his words
and the fear on his face
When she whispered
   her news to him.
We're too young.
We can't do this.
Oh God, what have we done?
Then like a knife tearing
   straight through her heart
You'll have to abort
   there's no there choice.
NO OTHER CHOICE...
...the end of her dream
NO OTHER CHOICE.

She cried herself
   to sleep last night
Her decision made.

~WOW. It's almost like you have seen my life and retold me the story. I certainly hope you havent endured this yourself. Such pain and terrifying thoughts captured in the piece. Your right, there always is other choices~
Blessed Be,
Beth

Beth...no not personal experience, but I can see myself in every woman put in this position. If I touched a part of your past then the write was worth it...thank you

Jon...I am glad you could feel for the girl, this SHOULD be such a hard choice for anyone to make, but in this throw a wy world of ours children seem to be just as disposable as cans.

Zion... OOHHHHHHHHH a challenge to my muse...thank you so very much

Paula,
So sad, for this one mistake of pleasure. Nicely done, I enjoyed the read.

Paula I like the title of this poem.
I understand that the decision could be as painful as a knife tearing straight thru the heart...James

Good writing here.
Too bad this couldn't be posted at schools, with a list of the ' other choices'.
You did a great job here,Paula.

James...well I think there is always more than one choice in life no matter what...you just have to look for them.

Gossamerwings...thank you...now thats an idea I may just have to investigate...

We are called to make many choices in our lives but I doubt there is one more terrible than one such as this.

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown

EagleOne...there wouldnt be a choice for me...every child is precious and deserves a chance to become...but I know there are reasons for this act...that doesnt make it easier to accept

Very sad Paula a lot of emotional turmoil here. A real hot topic for sure. Took a lot of guts to write it.

It is hard to stay neutral on this topic but as you say so eloquently it is a matter of choice and we cannot make those choices for
the world.  Nice write and good subject to
bring forth.
