Every one in awhile I look back
And relive those wounds of old
I painfully feel them opening up,
Warm blood long since gone cold

All it took was a familiar experience
A girl I desired wanted me not
Her rejection was kind and gentle
And I doubt she gave it a second though

But to me the memories returned
Of a love gone horribly wrong
I felt as I did before, dirty and pained
As if I were in a place I didn't belong

She was sorry, she had other plans
I had heard the lines all before
It would be easier if it were no
But her gentleness sent me to the floor

I wish these wounds would heal
But they always seem to return
Sparked by another girl so sweet
For whom my heart comes to yearn

This aches...the wounds of old never seem to leave until wounds of new replace them....deep and powerfully painful writing~

Mistikman...
            I don't think anything hurts
quite as much as being rejected,
especially in matters of the heart!
            You wrote this well....
                  I felt the ache....

Mistikman, how very wounded it the heart when rejected. I felt your pain. Take care, Juls

I understand the pain you feel. But I'm also glad that you aren't letting old 'wounds' keep you from trying. Someday, Mistikman, someday.  I promise!

Mistik, I can relate to this so well. I also feel the old wounds surfacing over and over again. I hope your wounds will heal soon, my friend.
