            walking distance

walking past that old motel we liked so much
where me and Connor
played our last little games
I almost went in to pay for a week
in that room
where we used to stay
I didn't cry
but I was fresh outta smiles
so I did what I could do...
I walked away...
but I'm sure that I will walk past somewhere else...

  I'm so sick of this
yea, so sick of dealing with it
And what the hell are borders anyway?
  I need to fly away
I need to walk to where you are...

   -chorus-

This isn't just a bad day
  Tomorrow'll be the same way
I see somewhere we were damn near every day
  yea, since you've gone...
  But I can't fly away...

walking down on Maitland Street
I relive a scene ingrained in me
the 3rd floor window
where Connor watched for trains
getting home from work to see his eyes
his smile and his wave
man, that really made my day...
but as I walk past now it's hard to think
that this is anywhere
but another somewhere else
So I'll do what I can do...
I'll walk away...

  I'm so sick of this
yea so sick of dwelling on it
  This is love -
how did politics get in the way?
And I know you're sick of this
  We're too old for this
  He's too young for this
I'm too in love for this
So why should we let rules stand in our way?
  Maybe I can't fly away...
But I can walk to where you are...

  -chorus-

This isn't just a bad day
  Tomorrow'll be the same way
I see somewhere we were damn near every day
  yea, since you've gone...
  I wanna walk away...

This isn't just a bad day
  Tomorrow'll be the same way
Lord please grant them a great day every day
  yea, while they're gone
  So I don't walk away...
Cause I could walk to where they are....

WOW...this is powerful, painful and aching off the page...you vented many feelings here and wove it into an awsome piece of writing...Ever line was felt to the bone...that's what poetry is all about~

This poem brought a tear to my eye.  Two years ago a friend of my mine lost her infant in a fire.. his name was Conner.

"walking down on Maitland Street
I relive a scene ingrained in me
the 3rd floor window where Connor used to play
walking home to see his eyes his smile and his wave
man it really made my day
but as I walk past now it's hard to think
that this is anywhere but another somewhere else
So I'll do what I can do I'll walk away..."

That verse really hit home for me.  It is a lovely but painful poem. I am going to add it to my personal library.

RP25...

I am glad to hear that it means that much
but sorry that it hits you for the reasons it does.  I can't even imagine.
