The Guide Lines

I try to walk the straight and narrow
In my poetic life
I post with only one thought for you
To do this without strife

Seeking multiples of me is not
My one and only ambition
I know that posting too much
Will send me to poet’s perdition

Posting a few poems a day will be
The extent of my submission summit
For I want my work to be read
Not take the “passionate plummet”

Quote from the Passion Forum Guidelines: “We also won't discourage you from posting multiple (but different) poems back-to-back. We would, however, suggest that you would likely find other Members respond much more positively to your work when you stagger it over longer periods of time. Few of us have as much time to spend reading poetry as we'd like, and even fewer of us can devote hours to responding to what we do read. If you post several poems back-to-back, you will likely find each of them receiving fewer responses than had you posted one at a time.”

The way you say the simplest things,
in lovely, sweetest rhyme.
simply moves my heart to sing,
surely you are de Vine!

ew...sorry, didn't mean to stink up the place...just wanted to add me applause...

serenity, it's not a stinker that you pen
it's certainly a verse
believe I have written my share
and some are really worse!

New at this, so bear with me...

I sort of fell into poetry recently and have since spent hours reading other's work.  I enjoyed this one because it reminded me that What we have to share with the world is just as important as what others want to share with us...thanks for the insight.

Graceful and kind,thank you,PdV.

I spend a lot of time reading
Don't post a whole lot yet
But then get called a lurker
And make all the poets fret.

Oh please, make up your mind
I understand your plight
But please don't call me a lurker
That is ever so impolite!

Dear Ms. Poet,
you're diplomatic
(your grace, your wit, your tact)
to address the issue,
of poetic static,
and remind us how to act

I only wish
that I could write
enough to fill a screen
(not that I would)
but if I could,
well, you know what I mean?

Instead I skim
around the board,
(each visit far too rare)
so much to read
so little time
(and even less to share)

so I will try
to curb myself
and keep my muse in check
it won't be hard
(believe you me)
this writing stuff is heck!

Loved yer poem, Ms.PdV

Let me mention in rebuttal
Balladeer is not so subtle.
Those who take advantage of
Passions will not get my love!
The rules are clearly there to follow
And, if you find them hard to swallow,
If you read the rules and then
Wind up posting 9 or 10
You'll be looking everywhere
And still ain't gonna find them there.
There's no room for poetic gluttons
That's why I got my own button!

Seriously, folks, and especially new members, Passions is a big place but space is still limited. Our poor Mother Computer and Father Ron work their tails off every day trying to keep up with all the posts. Passions prides itself on friendship and consideration. Other sites I know of will say "One or two posts per day maximum" and, if you exceed that, they are immediately deleted and you are asked to obey the rules or hit the road. Here we try to explain the rules and not be hard-nosed with strict enforcement. We simply ask that some consideration is shown in respecting them. For those who don't (which is becoming more frequent unfortunately by new members) measures will have to be taken. Enjoy Passions and respect it.....please.

Spoken like a true Poetic Gentleman Balladeer!

We've been through all this before and decided not to delete multiple posts by one poet out of consideration for that poet. All we ask is a little consideration back.

I read poems from the "Today's Topic" at the top of the page..if I see someone has posted more than three poems in one forum, I may only read one. If this is YOU, please be considerate. If you'd like to talk this out with the rest of us..let's take it to the Alley!

From now on, when I see someone posting in large numbers, I will reply with the link to this thread so they will know our feelings.

Thanks for the replies..and thanks to Nan for her inspiration!

I think that is excellent advice. All need a chance to be read and comment. When I first came here I did'nt comment as much as I do now. But as time went on I became poet friends with a number of folks and now look forward to reading their work.
I really think a good poet is a humble poet.
Posting four or five in a row is definetly not an indication of humility.

Good show PdV I'm behind you all the way

You have a special way,
of expressing what you say,
even when enforcing rules,
you don't make us feel all fools

I see my name upon the scroll--
I swear these are but verses old!!!
just one--or two a day I write...
and dance screen dances smiling gold...

and even if my muse is slump...
she whispered to me...
"give this, 'bump'..."

Gawd, so sorry sharon, there I go again..lol...

Tired of the bottom
Want to bounce to the top
Looks like it's just
too pertinent to stop !

A gentle reminder given with typical PDV grace. *S* I have so little time online these days... unless sweet Toe comes out of hiding, I'm lucky to be able to read one new poem from each of my "can't miss" list... multiples aren't even a possibility. (Now if Toe appears, I'd just like to see a librarian capable of dragging me away from the screen! LOL It WILL take force! *G*)

We've heard from Man, and Woman too
so you newbies, get a clue...
these rules weren't made just for you
us oldn's have to follow too!

So get in line and get to responding!
Hey, it's a lot more than friendly bonding!
It's a way to take poetic verse
and practice, practice and rehearse!

So back up from page FOUR this here goes
just to say "We're in the KNOW!"

Did i do anything wrong?
Please tell me if i do
I am new at poetry so
I am learning
I hope to God
I can learn
I have the desire
Is it enough
To conquer a wish
