         "IF I" - Part I

If I were an apple hangin' on a tree,
Would you stop by, and take a bite out of me?

If I were a peach not yet quite ripe,
Would you come along and pick me, with one gentle swipe?

If I were a red cherry hanging on a branch,
Would you find me, on that great big ranch?

If I were a pear in the tree so yellow,
Would you see me, and think I was a great fellow?

If I were a grape hanging on a vine,
Would you come over, and bite me sometime?

If I were a little piece of sweet green candy,
Would you see me, and think that I was dandy?

If I were a piece of red licorice,
Would you have me for dinner, on your little dish?

If I were a piece of licorice that was all black,
Would you buy me, and put me in your sack?

If I could bake you a great big cake,
Would you go swimming with me, in the lake?

If I could bake you one sweet blueberry muffin,
Would that give you a reason, to give me a huggin'?

If I could bake you a tart apple pie,
Would you pucker up your lips, and give me the eye?

And if I could squeeze you from here to there,
Would you hug me, like a big teddy bear?

Bill

Your poem is lite and refreshing.  It shows a different side to your writing.  I thought the "hug" at the end topped it off nicely.

I'm getting hungry. You guys got any gummy bears?
Personally, I think this one should be put to music. It would make a great song, happy and romantic.

Oh how sweet!!  To all of the above...Yes!  Very Cute Bill!     You almost write 'em faster than I can read 'em!  Oh, to have your muse.

ddgoose,
Hi dd, thanks for your wonderful comments about this little bit of humor. Yes, a teddy bear hug always works.

Hi Elizabeth,
Thanks for reading my little bit of humor. Hey, do you have any gummy's that you might want to share?

Tennessee Angel,
Hi Angel, thanks again for coming by and for your very sweet comments. And thanks so much for the "Yesses", I'll remember that, and write some verses just for you, when I complete Part II. I have to change the title though, as this one doesn't seem to fit.

Hi ethome,
Thanks for your kind comments, and I was actually down at the river meditating when this little bit of humor came to me. But I must admit, I was dreamin'!

Lovely, lighthearted verse, Bill...a very refreshing approach.

Hi rosepetals25,
I completely overlooked these replies. My apologies. Rosepetals, if you have the blueberry muffin, I have the cream cheese and jam! Thank you for your comments.

Hi Meadowmuse,
This was a little something that I had a lot of fun putting together. Thank you Claire, once again, for coming by.

Hi poutprincess,
Thank you for your comments, and I'm glad that it just might have sweetened up your day.

Hi Paula,
Yes, I do dinner, especially seafood. Thank you for your comments, and for coming by and reading this little funny that I put together.
