"ONE NIGHT AGAIN" You've asked me to meet you at our special place, Near the cabin, that's by the shore of the lake. Where we met and fell in love last summer, When my heart was pounding and it started to quake. You said you wanted to meet me there, When the moon was bright in the midnight sky. And when a gentle breeze would sing through the night, Playing our favorite song that brought tears, and made me cry. I remembered those fond nights when you said that you cared, And I don't understand why you left in the early dawn. Especially after you said that I was the only one for you, Now I haven't seen you all through the days that are gone. The moon is as bright in the night sky as it once was, There are so many stars, lighting themselves so bright. I sit peacefully near the shore of this beautiful lake, I wait, I close my eyes, and I focus on the night. I reflect about that first time when we met, When I looked at the sadness in those soft blue eyes. I could see your tears, as they slowly rolled down your face, I thought and I thought, but I never knew why. The softness of you I sensed, and I wanted you in my embrace, Your loneliness was so hollow, but I could not fill it that day. Heartbreak is what you projected, but I was lost how to mend it, The tears flowed out of your eyes, but I could not wipe them away. Suddenly a noise that startled me, and I opened my eyes, And as I gazed into the moonlight I caught a glimpse of you. Your long dark hair I could see flying with the breeze, Your beautiful eyes shining in the darkness, to me still so new. I called to you and you came, and then we embraced, My heart raced with the thought of having you once more. In my arms you quivered with passionate delight, And I softly kissed your lips, and felt them open up the door. We spoke and kissed again, and your lips were so moist, Just like the first day when we met at our place. I gently ran my fingers all through your hair, Still holding you tightly and gently, as ginger and lace. We walked towards our cabin and we went inside, Anticipating our knowing one other again. You smiled and I thought how happy I am, Because I still loved you, as much as my cautious heart can. Then it didn't seem to matter why you had gone, Perhaps it was the road we took, the one with the biggest bend. The only thing that really matters to me once more, Is that we are here together: "One Night Again". Bill Charles 7/21/00 9:34 AM |

Bill...I don't know how this beautiful romantic work slipped down the board without a comment. Well, I just have to say, it's absolutely wonderful. Wanting and needing and remembering, scared but lonely........ "Because I still loved you, as much as my cautious heart can." "The only thing that really matters to me once more, is that we are here together, "one night again." You are a hopeless romantic Bill that's what makes you such a good poet.... Take care.......ethome.... |

So lovely, Bill. Would that we all could have that "One Night Again," letting the sorrows and mistakes of the past fall aside to make room for the moment. ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

I enjoyed all the feelings and emotions in this poem...I have a love like this...she's close but she's so very far away...someday we will have nothing else to do except love each other...perhaps...James |

Then it didn't seem to matter why you had gone, Perhaps it was the road we took, the one with the biggest bend. The only thing that really matters to me once more, Is that we are here together: "One Night Again". If only the past was so easy to reclaim. The choices we make the second time round I wonder if they would be all that different. Really nice read and love the scope you had to the Passions family. |

Mark, Thank you so much for stopping by once again to read one of my humble poems. And thank you for your gracious comments. Wouldn't it be nice if reclaiming the past was easy? I'm not so sure that the second time around if we wouldn't choose the same path. |

This was absolutely beautiful Bill! I don't know how I missed it before. You truly have a poet's heart! --You can either take me as I am...or you can watch me as I go.-- |

Haleyja, My deepest apologies for not repling to your comments. I must of been wiping my eye, as I totally missed you. Thank you so much for your comments. I also like happy endings, but unfortunately I have also written some that are not so happy. And thank you ever so much for your vote. |

Hi Liz, I appreciate the kind comments that you have written for this special writing of mine. You certainly are very gracious, and I hope to keep them coming, but at times I must sit back and reflect, and then whammo, another poem! Come back again. |
