Look Both Ways

Two eyes meant to view and examine the world
With power to witness each spectacle shown
To glance and to gaze at a scene that unfurls
To watch with discernment the things that are known

The lens of the eye made to capture a vision
To wonder at aspects of what’s being viewed
Like a camara focusing in on an mission
Each picture’s engraved as each scene is renewed

The eye is a magical organ of sight
From the inside its  purpose is feeding the mind
But the cornea lens also works in reverse
As it mirrors the character living behind

The eyes of another may look into yours
And see truth as clearly as though it were taught
They penetrate into the depths of your core
And decifer the vision of essence and thought

The eyes are clear windows exposing your being
Although they are silent, they tell what’s within
The eye just reflects the truth one is seeing
For who’s looking outward and who’s looking in

Well Well,

It's nice to be back home after a couple of
weeks in the great unknown... There is something about
a vacation that takes you from looking both ways.
I seemed to have obliged my daughter's a little more freedom
than here in this city, infact I let them all stay up and eat anything they've wanted.
Yet you are pretty darn good Liz... and probably right too... You see,
Mom, nor I could ever stop looking both ways...
but we wished as best we could.

Much love, Dale

Elizabeth....
             This is so well-written.....
the eyes really are the windows to
          the soul.
               I love your writing.....
                  there is such insight.....

Love received is equal to love given!

"The eye just reflects the truth one is seeing

So true Elizabeth they work both ways. Very clever...I always enjoy your fine work and this is no exception.

Two eyes one possesses are but gifts to adore the world, the world notices it true and often say they are beautiful...

But there does exist a third eye, unseen by the world, for it is the one that looks within...

If one keeps this eye open, what the world will say is "the person has a beautiful soul" for it is the inner beauty that then shines through...

.....

Liz, see how thought-provoking your poem was...

need I say more to say just how beautiful it was...

regards,
sudhir
