In Velvet Silence

It came to me so softly felt
In velvet silence slowly crept
Just like a rose’s thorn it dealt
A wound of pleasure as I slept

So unaware, the potent quill
Approached my being undisguised
And made its way into my heart
A force I didn’t recognize

Uninvited was the passion
Unexpected was the feel
Love never asked if it was welcome
Nor revealed if it was real

In only days my heart deciphered
What I felt and what I knew
That this was meant to be a life
Of love known only to a few

Through the years, the thorn still lingers
In my heart where it was placed
But also love and memories
With velvet silent songs are laced

Elizabeth.....
I always marvel at your work...
It flows so smoothly, and is quite
     beautiful in the phrasing...

            Thank you for this one...

Liz: Here I am, posting a small reply to another poet and up you come talking to my heart, putting into words what I somehow fail to do....*shakes her head*

I hope all of us, after the hurt subsides, can reflect on the happiness that your poem reminded me of, little way to go here but I'm getting there, I have decreed it and so it will be..

I swear you're in my dreams, sitting there, telling me, that I was not a fool.

Dearest Liz; How romantic and lovely. Sigh!!
Now I think I'll go give my wonderful husband a big hug! Love, Ellie

A marvel in romantic muse.
I really love it.

Liz--I think the quill might have been a pen, for you have written so much love into poems like this one.  Remarkable!

Liz, really beautiful a stunning poem.

Elizabeth, wow wow wow!

Through the years, the thorn still lingers
In my heart where it was placed
But also love and memories

Perfect! You have remarkable talent.
I loved every line, and the ending was perfect!

Elizabeth you've done it again. I never cease to be amazed to how you can carry the rhyme so completely tight through a work and yet use such great thought patterns to put the mood and emotions across. Great gift, you should be proud........

Oh, I second Sunshine's comment!

Stunning wording and emotions Elizabeth, such a beautiful flow ... and I just can't get over the way the last line just sings through my mind:

"With velvet silent songs are laced"

Beautiful Liz!

Best wishes,
/Kit
