Looking Through Another's Eyes

quote:

____________________________________________

Contentment

Yes, there is a Nirvanah;
it is leading your sheep
to a green pasture,
and in putting your child to sleep,
and in writing the last line of your poem.

-Kahlil Gibran
_____________________________________________

I would find Nirvanah
although I have not a sheep
but I do have a green pasture
and in that pasture I would seek
Nirvanah

I would find heaven's door
in that green pasture
where a child lays in slumber
but not guarding his sheep
in Nirvanah

Where is your Nirvanah?
Is it indeed in writing the
last line to your poem?
And did you sweat and toil
and trouble yourself so?

Or is it only a rambling of
words that will not give
meaning nor pleasure
and shame would come of it
in Nirvanah?

When my time comes, and
I would dwell in the place
of Nirvanah, if I may but
grace Him and share with Him
my toils

I will then be in Nirvanah.

Hi Sunshine,
Something a little different but very good. You have made me wonder, where is my Nirvanah? Somewhere????

Karilea, a heavenly poem. Beautiful.

Where is your Nirvanah?
Is it indeed in writing the
last line to your poem?
And did you sweat and toil
and trouble yourself so?

Or is it only a rambling of
words that will not give
meaning nor pleasure
and shame would come of it
in Nirvanah?

why must we pray
screaming? why must not death be redefined? we shut our eyes we stretch out our arms and whirl on a pane of glass-patti smith

Well now, after reading I understand the title.
"Or is it only a rambling of
words that will not give
meaning nor pleasure
and shame would come of it
in Nirvanah?

I hope I'm not in that crowd of writers that you are mordantly speaking of as their Nirvanah. But I have to be honset I have troubled myself with the last line of my poem many times. I have to say if I come up with a good one it is awful close to  Kahlil Gibran's  description of Nirvanah, where ever that really is.
Love the last verse, you are so good at blending your meaning in with the rest of the content.

Sharon, I like to do research and see what builds from it [if anything] - Kahlil Gibran has always been a favorite of mine that has been on the shelf far too long...thanks!

Ethome...thank you for your comments. Just remember to always be happy with your work. < !signature-->

Just superb Sunny,

Gibran is someone that I have always been fascinated with. . . beginning with The Prophet and going on from there. . .

Nirvanah is easy to find. . . you just have to know where to look. . .

Excellent my friend. . .

You have reached another plane with this one and I found your new travels to be so inspiring.  Great read.  ***** I liked the quote and being a Kahlil Gibran fan I did recognize it.  Have you read "The Prophet--- a book by Gibran.
