The first stirring
   of life
Like the breathe of
   a butterfly
Overwhelms me

You didnt ask to be
   little one
And my fears slowly
   fade
In the wonder of you.

The doubts invade in
   the hours before dawn
How can I do this
   on my own?
Then like an answer
   unexpected and sweet
I feel you deep within.

And know I'm not alone.

Paula, you've given me goosebumps.  The first time I ever felt that "flutter"--I was so filled with awe...I'll never forget it, it was the first time in my life that it occurred to me that I might be worth something after all...thanks for the reminder.  Beautiful.

Of course you are worth something with or without that flutter...its just that a child belongs to you and only you for nine months and no one can feel that but you

This is beautiful although I can't say that I ever felt the flutter as you have.   It is also a sweet tribute to mother/child bonding

Well Paula I'm almost big enough to experience the flutter, however, biologicaly I cannot possibly do so.

ButI can read this beautiful poem and appreciate the wonders of the miracle that grows within. I can only imagine what the experience must be like.

My wife constantly wanted choclate sundaes, very little wonder my daughter was born with a sweet tooth.
